John Burningham

John Burningham is one of my favourite illustrators, even though children's books aren't really my thing. He has won several awards for his work and that comes as no surprise given the originality of his compositions. He seems to handle space with awe-inspiring fluency, and given his originality in terms of color and contrast he became an instant favourite for him. Some of his work is fairly simple compared to his others, especially when it comes to shapes and composition, but that does not mean that it is any less gorgeous.

David Hockney

David Hockney is a multi-talented virtuoso and surely one of my most loved artists. My favourite of his works is certainly The Rakes Progress because it is fairly dark and carries a heavy sense of tragic irony. I am impressed with the way his worked has transformed during the years and while he has successfully adjusted to the direction that art is taking currently, his older work will always remain classic.

Anne Herbauts

Anne Herbauts is a Belgian illustrator of childrens' books. I am not really a hge fan of her visual language as it doesn't seem as anything new to me but she has offered me a great deal of inspiration for composition and "flow" for my own output.
